How To Treat And Prevent Winter Bronchitis

Sudden changes in temperature promote inflammation of the bronchial tubes. If you prevent it or treat with plants you will avoid the unwanted effects of drugs.

Bronchitis or inflation of the bronchi is usually caused by a viral infection, and only sometimes by bacterial infection. It is facilitated by a weakened or damaged tissue, which is usually a consequence of tobacco or environmental pollutants.

It usually begins with a catarrh of the upper airways (throat, nose or sinuses) and descends to the bronchial tubes. The main symptoms are shortness of breath caused by blocked mucus and coughing up.

Changes in temperature favor infections

Treatment must be aimed at reducing inflammation, thinning the mucus and not suppressing the cough, unless it is very annoying, as it is a defense of the body to expel phlegm.

1. Avoid dryness and hydrate yourself

Avoid smoke, humidify the environment and drink plenty of water.

The infusion of thyme, eucalyptus, mallow and ginger thin the mucus, help expectorate and fight inflammation and infection.

Along with them, oregano, propolis and vitamin C (citrus juices or rose hip infusion) are antiviral and antibacterial.

2. Clean your bronchial tubes

Both the eucalyptus vapors and the raw onion syrup and organic honey will help you clean the bronchial tubes.

The antibiotics only useful if the infection is bacterial and antiviral are very effective but only recommend as a last resort, because they have undesirable effects.

3. Better to prevent

Apart from avoiding smoke and drinking lots of water and juices or foods with vitamin C, the following may be helpful:

  • Follow a diet rich in raw vegetables (fruits and salads with sprouts).
  • Practice moderate exercise.
  • Train the body to thermal changes (with cold water after a hot shower or bath).
  • If you are predisposed to catching a cold, start the fall with herbal teas or preparations of echinacea, propolis and thyme.
