Making your own pillow is a simple task and for this you will need few materials, you may even already have them all at home.

You need:

  • Pure cotton fabric in the desired size. Old fabric scraps or cushion covers are particularly suitable. But an old washcloth or shirt sleeve can also be recycled this way.
  • Cherry pits, between 300 and 500 g. After eating the cherries, boil the bones in a saucepan of water for ten minutes to remove the remaining pulp. Then heat them in the oven for an hour at 90 degrees, so that they dry completely and do not get moldy.
  • A needle or sewing machine.
  • Thread
  • Pair of scissors

How to sew your homemade cherry pit pillow

  1. Cut the fabric. The size depends on you, for example a nice measurement is 20 centimeters by 30 centimeters. You can also use a plate as a template and sew a round pillow. Whichever format you choose, you will need two pieces of the same size.
  2. Lay the two cut pieces of fabric one on top of the other right to right.
  3. Sew three sides together, with a two centimeter seam allowance. If you’ve chosen to make a round pillow, just leave a four-inch space open. In either case, there should be an opening that is large enough to fit the cherry pits.
  4. Flip the cover over.
  5. Fill with as many bones as is comfortable for you. Think that it should not be completely filled so that the surface will give way and adapt to different shapes.
  6. Close the seam that was left open.
  • How to properly heat the cherry pillow

  • The pillow can be heated in the microwave, oven or radiator. The fastest way is in the microwave. With a maximum of 600 watts or the lowest setting, it will only take a minute or two. It is recommended that you keep an eye on it while it heats up.
  • You can heat it in the conventional oven for about ten minutes at 90 ÂșC. If the occasion arises you can use the residual heat after cooking, thus saving energy.
  • The best way to take advantage of the heat in winter is by leaving the cushion on a radiator. It will heat up and you only need to pick it up and use it whenever you want.
