Spanish and Portuguese organic producers will finally have their great professional fair, which will facilitate distribution, especially internationally. It is one more symptom of the great growth that the sector is experiencing, which increased its figures by 7% in the last year alone.

More and more people appreciate the quality of what they eat and look for organic products as a guarantee of health, sustainability and respect for the environment.

Although only 2.5% of Spanish consumers have taken the step of looking for products with an ecological seal, the great reputation of Spain in this sector and the enormous future of this trend, has led the event promoter Diversified Communications to decide to organize the fair, which will be professional and international in nature.

The fair was born with the support of BioCultura and the Government

Organic Food Iberia’s spirit is not to compete with the pioneering Biocultura, which drags thousands of people to its pavilions every year. The new fair will focus on the professional market to strengthen relationships and synergies between organic producers, industry and distribution.

In fact, Biocultura, with an offer more focused on the public, has applauded the creation of this event “necessary to encourage all Spanish agriculture to become organic,” said its director, Ángeles Parra, at a press conference. BioCultura also promotes a change in lifestyle.

The objective is to turn Spain into a world benchmark for organic production. Spain already has the largest land area dedicated to food production in Europe and ranks fifth in number of organic companies.

Organic Food Iberia was also born with the full support of the Ministry of Agriculture, since it is one of the ideas included in the Government’s Strategy for Organic Production 2018-2020. For this reason, it will have the support of Intereco, the public entity that groups together the certifiers of organic production in each autonomous community. According to its president, David Samper, “the organic sector demanded a professional fair”.

Also fashion, cosmetics and home

The fair will not focus exclusively on food, as it will also host the Eco Living Iberia contest for producers and distributors of cosmetic, textile and fashion products, household items and drugstores.

The organizing company, Diversified Communications, is a benchmark in the international organic sector. It also organizes Natural & Organic Products Europe in London, Nordic Organic Food Fair and Natural Products Scandinavia in Sweden, and Naturally Good in Australia.
